Elon Musk and some reporters have been engaging in a Twitter tiff this week.

Musk, the CEO of Tesla, aired his grievances on Twitter following reports in Fortune and Forbes that challenged the company and its technology. The first report, in Fortune, questioned whether Tesla shareholders should have been told of the first known fatality involving the upstart carmaker's Autopilot system before their shareholder meeting last month.

The second report that raised Musk's ire was one by Sam Abuelsamid in Forbes that disputed his claims, which he sent in an email to Fortune, that Autopilot would prevent "1M auto deaths per year worldwide" if that system were uniformly implemented in cars around the world.

One of the main reasons automakers and tech companies like Uber and Google are pursing autonomous and semi-autonomous driving tech is to prevent accidents. About 94% of all car wrecks are caused by human error.
